June Is Black Music Month

June is here! Not only is Juneteeth this month, but it's also black music month. Which means we need to curate some new playlists of black AF! anthems! These are songs for a myriad of different occasions. Yet, whenever you hear them you're proud as hell to be black.

  • Before I Let Go
  • What's Goin On
  • Say It Loud
  • I'm Coming Out
  • A Change Gon Come
  • Alright
  • Freedom
  • Don't Touch My Hair
  • Fight The Power
  • King Kunta
  • Respect

Now there are countless others but these were some I felt that resonated with everyone. Whenever you hear those they just evoke black pride. Now, I have some artists who I feel are just dope.

  • Lucky Daye
  • Gold Link
  • H.E.R
  • Ari Lennox
  • JID
  • Bas
  • Koffee
  • Davido
  • Gunna
  • Meg The Stallion
  • The Internet
  • Smino
  • Saba
  • SIR
  • Big Krit
  • BJ the Chicago Kid
Those artists above are known but they haven't reached mainstream status. Once you add them to your playlist thank me later. These are the artist who I feel might resurrect the genre. I might be reaching with that last statement, but music is supposed to do three things inspire, uplift and motivate. If an artist isn't doing that then they really shouldn't have a platform. Full disclaimer my top ten rappers embody everything I just stated. Those rappers are Wale, J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar, TI, Outkast, Nas, and Pre-kimye Kanye West. Who are some your favorite artists?
