It’s safe to say that Lena Waithe’s life right now is lit! Some might say she’s in the ranks of having an awesome year like Cardi B or Tiffany Haddish. She’s being honored this year at Essence Women’s Conference. The Chi is doing incredibly well and it’s a great show. Highly recommend that if you haven’t checked it out then most definitely do so.
Well her arduous work hasn’t gone unnoticed TBS has just given her the greenlight to create a primetime show with a black queer lead. The show is called “Twenties” which is centered around a girl named Hattie and her besties. This is huge for so many reasons, it’s providing an opportunity to showcase the community in another light.
Waithe got her start on writing while working on “Girlfriends”. With that experience and success of that show, it’s going to be an accurate representation of what gay women go through in their twenties. Seeing her previous work from “Master Of None”, all young gays should be identify with her characters in her new show.
