Simone Samuels Makes Another Splash

Here's a dose of Black girl magic for you, Simone Samuels defended her title in the 100-meter freestyle. She managed to set a new All- American record when she won. This happened at the FINA World Championship in Gwangju, South Korea.

When Samuels won she became the second woman to achieve this feat and the first African-American woman to win an individual Olympic gold medal in swimming.  Samuels has been using her platform since she's won to lower the high drowning rate within the black community. This is a sport that I did in high school, so I'll be rooting for her in Tokyo.
